Believe it or not, there was actually a study that reported that mothers would rather give up sex than be without their cellphone.
According to the study, moms are more apt to use their cellphone for shopping (30%), do more product research than other online shoppers (44%), and commit to their purchase on their phone (43%). Given that moms are so connected to their phones, if you’re selling something in the mom’s demographic, you should consider using a mobile-first approach.
Even though the study suggests that moms do a ton of research before purchasing a product, it also states that 47% of them only have the time to visit upwards of two websites before ultimately choosing one to purchase a needed product/service.
By choosing a mobile-first approach for your website or app, you’re more likely to gain their purchase. Three ways to make your site mobile-first include:
- Captioning your photo and video content so they can be understood without sound.
- Making your content easy to navigate
- Ensuring your content is navigable with a single hand—busy moms are usually limited to one free hand at a time.
Some may think it’s silly to plan even a part of your marketing around how mothers shop; however, if you think about it, many are in control of purchasing for their households. It may be well worth your while.
