Given that Internet of Things (IoT) is such a big deal now, it should come as no surprise that it’s already started to influence the world around us. Here are three things you may not realize are happening thanks to the IoT trend:.
1. Sophisticated data management
More specifically, this refers to the system of RFID tags railcar shipments have been tracked with for at least the last 10 years. The speed and accuracy of your shipments are all thanks to the IoT.
2. Vehicle remote connection systems
Whether your car works using UConnect, BlueLink, Sync or OnStar, all work the same way and are brought to you thanks to IoT. With just a tap on a smartphone app, you have the power to turn on (or off) your vehicle, start the heat (or A/C), find your vehicle if you’ve forgotten where you’ve parked it and even unlock the doors.
3. Medicine
Given the importance of taking a specific dosage of medication (often at a specific time) it should come as no surprise that IoT is taking the act of medication to new heights. Even if you can’t remember when to take your pill(s), IoT can and will remind you.
This tracking can be through an app or through an internet-connected pill bottle that tracks when you take your pill and lights up to tell you if you’ve forgotten to take it.
