The healthcare industry is going through trials and tribulations that many never thought the industry would have to face.
One of the biggest changes is that healthcare services previously provided by clinics alone can now be provided at your local big chain pharmacy (i.e. Walgreens and CVS). Likewise, technologies not traditionally thought of as “medical technologies” are also becoming players.
Take SDLC, for example.
Systems development lifecycle (SDLC) is a type of project management methodology that involves a multi-step process for moving ideas through a repeatable progression.
Clinical information systems (CIS) are based on an SDLC framework. The goal of a CIS is to guarantee the expectations of investments as they become realized within systems.
To start, a foundational system is laid out. Then, following an SDLC approach, both development and user testing are performed. Since this is a multi-phase approach, staff is also trained, production implementation is performed, and continuous process improvements occur.
To ensure long-term and operational success, company-wide communication and feedback must be recognized. Additionally, standard processes and the creation of governance need to be established.
