In recent years cloud computing has been a major player in the tech world. As the amount of data used around the world grows even larger, it is even more important for businesses to ensure they have protocols in place to secure their data, as well as to process the data as it comes in.
It’s estimated that by the end of 2018 the cloud market will be worth $178 billion, which is up from $146 billion in 2017. Experts believe this figure will to continue to grow by 22 percent a year for the next couple of years.
With these figures, there has been a push for businesses to bypass traditional storage methods and jump right into utilizing the cloud. There are numerous ways that businesses can benefit from utilizing cloud first computing. Here are three of them.
Flexibility of cloud first computing
In 2017, Clutch conducted their Annual Cloud Computing Survey and discovered that IT professionals who preferred the cloud noted this decision was due to an increase in efficiency, flexibility and innovation. The cloud is an ideal method for cloud storage, especially with the demands placed on storage currently.
Cloud storage also makes it extremely simple to add more storage if a business’ needs change quickly. Conversely, if a business needs to scale back their storage, they have the ease to do so without interrupting production.
Productivity and efficiency improvements
The Vanson Bourne study, “The Business Impact of the Cloud,” concluded that many of the companies saw an improvement of 20.66 percent in time to market. An additional 18.80 percent saw an improvement in their average process efficiency. These improvements are due to the fluid nature of cloud computing that allows for enhanced collaboration amongst employees, as well as between companies and their customers.
Security
Security is a hot button topic when it comes to performing business—and this is doubly so when it comes to businesses who work in the cloud. While there are concerns that come up about the safety of data in the cloud, there are also instances where utilizing the cloud for data storage becomes even safer. This is true especially of large companies that have the means to employ high quality cyber-security personnel. Sometimes these companies can even attract better personnel than the government can.
