Cloud computing isn’t the next big thing. It’s already here.
According to a 2014 IBISWorld Market Research Report:
- By 2015, end-user spending on cloud services could be more than $180 billion
- It is predicted that the global market for cloud equipment will reach $79.1 billion by 2018
- If given the choice of only being able to move one application to the cloud, 25% of respondents would choose storage …
Businesses who want to stay competitive must seriously consider whether cloud computing can help or hurt their operations.
However, should you choose to migrate to the cloud, moving your business’s data is an important endeavor that takes time and planning to ensure that onboarding is successful. The process of onboarding is split into 3 phases:
- Assessment
- Transition plan and cutover
- Analysis
In the assessment phase, you’ll look at the business and tech sides of your business and devise a plan of action. Through the assessment, you’ll want to perform a tech analysis, a business analysis and an application analysis.
During the transition plan and cutover phase, you’ll decide whether it’s prudent for your business to move forward. After making this decision, you’ll develop the actual plan for the transition.
The performance analysis phase is where you and various teams analyze the plans you’ve put in place to know where your business needs to go in the future. Failure to do so could end up costing your company money and energy.
