At the end of 2015, Salesforce silenced the rumors and officially announced that they would be acquiring SteelBrick for a price of over $300 million. SteelBrick is an automated quote-to-cash software for businesses that has been closely working with Salesforce since its inception. SteelBrick was created using the Salesforce1 platform and is already compatible with the Salesforce Lightening interface. Salesforce has also been a large investor for SteelBrick.
Forbes writes: “It is highly possible that Salesforce may repackage SteelBrick’s services into its Sales Cloud in its quest to becoming a one-stop shop for all things CRM.”
Since the Salesforce Sales Cloud previously lacked the technology and capabilities that SteelBrick specializes in, the acquisition is likely to prove highly beneficial to the Salesforce giant and its commitment to providing effective enterprise cloud solutions.
