What’s one office supply can be found in any cubicle, no matter where it is around the world?
Yep, you guessed it: the humble, yellow sticky note.
Who among us hasn’t stuck a brightly-colored sticky note to their computer screen or desk in their cubicle or office? But also, who among us has also lost an important phone number or piece of information due to one of their sticky notes going missing?
Guilty and guilty…
There has to be a better way, right?
Some people say that it’s hard to break the habit of using sticky notes, even after attempting various other avenues to keep track of their notes. One of the best sticky note alternatives so far is Microsoft SharePoint.
If you’re serious about ditching sticky notes once and for all, let them know about all of the advantages of utilizing SharePoint’s Task List feature and consider employing these three tips:
1. Explain the benefits of Tasks Lists
Tasks Lists go beyond simply keeping a to-do list. Make sure to let your employees know about the other compelling benefits:
- Detailed management (Tasks Lists gives you the power to not only set up tasks, but to also attach details to each task such as attaching task resources to each task, collaborating with co-workers, delegating and scheduling tasks, tracking progress, etc.)
- Access anywhere
- Microsoft project integration
2. Hold a tips campaign
Through a series of micro-training sessions, try sending (or presenting) tutorials about the various uses of SharePoint daily, over a set time period. These bite-sized tutorials may be easier for your employees to handle than throwing everything at them at once. The tutorials don’t have to be elaborate. Utilize screenshots, a short walk-through, fun tip sheets, and/or screen-capture videos.
Give the campaign a strict deadline to ensure that it’s prioritized and make it successful by making it a challenge and provide incentives.
3. Give prizes
It may seem immature, but providing incentives to the team can be helpful. If your employees know there’s a benefit to learning, they’ll be more likely to stay motivated. Prizes to consider include gift cards, tickets, maybe even an extended lunch. Whatever you plan to award, make sure you advertise it and praise the winner.
