SOA can often look very similar to what progressive organizations are working toward developing with advances in cloud native architectures, which are made of microservices. This can confuse people because the statements sound contradictory.

Old SOAs could be large, difficult to manage and hard to build. By comparison, service platforms are known as developer constructs and can be driven from the bottom up, making them easier to manage.
